Conference desk

The registration desk will be open on Wednesday, 13 September between 8:00 and 09:00, and on Thursday, 14 and Friday, 15 September between 08:30 and 09:00. The desk will also be open for queries every day during the coffee-breaks in the morning.

Coffee and refreshments will be served in the inner courtyard during the scheduled breaks, supplied by Sindillar / Sindihogar.

Sindillar / Sindihogar es el primer sindicato independiente de mujeres trabajadoras del hogar y los cuidados en el Estado español. Se creó en 2011 con el objetivo de desarrollar la autonomía i el empoderamiento de las trabajadoras con actividades diseñadas y realizadas por sus afiliadas. También, en colaboración con la Universidad de Barcelona ofrece un servicio de consejo legal especializado en migración y derechos laborales.

Sindillar / Sindihogar is the first independent women’s union of home and care workers in Spain. It was created in 2011 with the aim to foster the autonomy and empowerment of home workers with activities designed and developed by its affiliates. Additionally, it offers a legal counseling service specialized in migration and labor rights in collaboration with the University of Barcelona.

Language and translation

The languages of the parallel sessions will be English and Spanish. The welcome plenary round table will be held in Catalan with simultaneous translation into English, and the rest of plenaries will be translated from English into Spanish.

All translations will be provided by COATI (Colectivo para la Autogestión de Tecnologías para la Interpretación / Collective for the Self-organisation of Interpreting Technologies)

COATI es un colectivo sin ánimo de lucro basado en Barcelona que trabaja para construir y mantener herramientas colectivas de interpretación basadas en las experiencias del D.I.Y. y el open source. Trabaja conjuntamente con grupos y movimientos sociales para encontrar soluciones económicas, factibles, colectivas y dinámicas a la traducción simultánea para superar las barreras lingüísticas.

COATI is a not-for-profit group based in Barcelona that works to build and maintain collective interpreting tools based on the experience of DIY self-organisation and open source. COATI works together with groups and social movements to find economical, workable, collective and dynamic solutions to simultaneous translation in order to overcome language barriers.

Presentations

Each paper will be given a maximum of 15 minutes for presentation. After presentations there will be a discussion period led by session chairs. Facilities are set up for Power Point (Microsoft Office 2010) and VLC media player in a Windows 8 readable format.

Pica-pica and good-bye party

On Friday evening there is a good-bye dinner in two venues located in Poble sec District: La Base and La Raposa. Please, note that you must acquire the tickets in advance in the registration desk and during the morning coffee-breaks. Price: 10 €. Number of places limited.

La Base, Ateneu Cooperatiu es un proyecto que se encuentra en el barrio del Poblesec de Barcelona que pretende ser un espacio autogestionado, siguiendo con latradición de mutualismo popular y de la clase trabajadora en la ciudad. Da cabadid a un proyecto de Cocina Comunitaria, una Biblioteca, una Cooperativa de Consumidores and un grupo de crianza colectiva.

Social Centre “La Base is a project based in Poblesec, a neighborhood in Barcelona that aims to create a self-managed space, trying to recover the tradition of popular and working class mutualism in the city. It hosts projects like a Community Kitchen, a Library, Consumers Cooperative and a Co-maternity Group.

La Raposa
Bar vegano y librería feminista / Vegan restaurant and feminist bookshop

La Raposa es una cooperativa que gestiona un bar vegano y una librería feminista en el barrio de Poblesec. El espacio del bar es un lugar de encuentro social en el que se puede disfrutar de tapas y platos 100% vegetarianos a precios populares. El mismo local dispone de un espacio librería en el que podemos encontrar gran variedad de títulos de temática feminista, literatura infantil con perspectiva de género, fancines, y una importante selección de ensayos sobre veganismo, como dieta saludable y como enfoque político o antiespecista. Además, queremos que sea la sede física de un grupo de consumo autogestionado, y un espacio cotidiano para grupos de crianza del barrio. La Raposa también abre sus puertas a actividades y talleres y otros eventos artísticos y musicales.

La Raposa is a cooperative that manages a vegan bar and a feminist bookstore in the Poblesec neighborhood. The space of the bar is a social meeting place where you can enjoy tapas and 100% vegetarian dishes at popular prices. The same place has a bookstore where we you can find a great variety of feminist themes, children’s literature with a gender perspective, fanzines, and an important selection of essays on veganism as a healthy diet and as a political or anti-speciesist approach. In addition, we want it to be the physical headquarters of a self-managed consumption group, and a daily space for neighborhood breastfeeding groups. The Raposa also opens its doors to activities and workshops and other artistic and musical events.

La Base and La Raposa are located at 6 minutes’ walk from each other.
